Divisions Divisions will be based on the combined USTA ratings of both players. The divisions being offered are listed on the online application, although some divisions may be merged due to low enrollment.
Unsure which division to play? Players who have an official USTA rating MUST use that rating for this event (or play higher). Players without official USTA ratings should self-rate based on the USTA's rating scale. Players who are not familiar with the USTA scale should self-rate based on the ALTA scale, by estimating the level at which they would be the average player. Note that this is often, but not always, the same as "what level team am I on?" Players using ALTA levels to self-rate should use the following table:
To determine which level you and your partner should play, simply add your two ratings (combined rating). For example, if a 4.5 player and a 4.0 player are partners, they would enter the 8.5 division. Players cannot self-rate lower than 2.5.
A player may play two events at different divisions. For example, a woman with a 3.5 rating may play Women's Doubles with another 3.5 woman in the 7.0 women's division and play Mixed Doubles with a 4.0 man in the 7.5 mixed division.
Please NOTE: The tournament committee reserves the right to move pairs from one division to another to maintain competitive balance within divisions and/or to balance draw sizes among divisions. If you are moved from one division to another, you will be given the option of withdrawing before draws are posted.
